Concept / Notes

All at once, shooting stars appear, moving fast towards earthly surface; becoming visible for a few seconds before fade away. If you are lucky enough you can see them tracing the night sky so you can make a wish. Well, I am not lucky enough, I have never seen one and I do not blame my luck for that. There is no path for luck, so I do insist on looking up to the sky hoping I will get an idea of it somedaysays Stoikou.

She creates a mobile site-performance for camera with her bike; folding her head with LED light linked to Arduino sensor/portable PC, which changes colours according to her speed. Her mobile gesture renders her a shooting star, a technopoetic figure riding endlessly across the night streets of Nafplio; creating a transient luminous event for anonymous pedestrians or drivers. She use a bike, a symbol of freedom, an extention of muscles and thoughts. She is a drifter for that momentary gesture, no destination as a method for shaping the potential. (Bill Psarras, curator)
