Concept / Notes

In a liquid world, we are unable to grasp time and its complexities. Everything is transient and ephemeral. Streets are get lighten by city; traces, places and frozen narratives that show us how fleeting our human condition is. We often are in a liminal condition, suspended to thresholds, between the past which collapses and the future which is under constant becoming.‘, says Zeppou.

The work of Zeppou forms a walking performance with a handheld mobile projection, between two sites with historical and architectural significance in the old city of Nafplion: the site of Greece first governor Ioannis Kapodistrias assassination (1831) and the Land Gate (1687). Two threshold sites, a fountain, a gate – a line connecting them which for Zeppou becomes a line ritual of walking and projecting a dreamy composition of thoughts upon surfaces of fountain, streets, sidewalks and gate. A silent gesture of video light in the dark alleys of city, which lighten her steps towards a new condition. Her thoughts become a light guidance from a past to a future condition of Self (Bill Psarras, curator)
